Câmpu lui Neag - Cabana Buta - Cheile Buții - Câmpu lui Neag
The road is accessible by car in the first segment ( as far as the Buta river), after the first strong left turn a climb begins. On the left side of the road there is a beautiful opening with meadows, this is the place where two trails meet. The first one from Buții gorge to Buta mountain hut marked with a blue line and the forest road that leads to Buta marked with a red cross.
The starting point is at an altitude of 900m and after covering 11 km of the trail you can get to Buta Mountain Hut at 1580m. Just before the hut, the trail separates from the dirt road taking a shortcut through the forest, but both ways lead to the hut.
Along the way the road is guarded on both side by tall beech trees and with the climb in altitude they are slowly replaced by conifers. A great view of the Piule - Pleșa peaks can be seen from the trail and sometimes even the canyons of the Buta river can be observed.
The way back goes on the same path, until the meadows (La Fânețe) from here the path goes right following the blue line until Complexul Turistic Cheile Buții.
Author’s recommendation
The Buta Mountain hut can be accessed from the DN66A National road. Just before the bridge that goes over the Lazăru river, there is a dirt road to the right which leads to to Buta.
Along the way there are two gorgeous waterfalls called Valea Mării and Lazarus, the waterfalls are not on the road, but a small detour is definetly worth the effort.
Also just next to the Cheile Buții Tourist Center is the entrence to the wonderful Buții gorge.
